Name: Keeper of the Lost Cities
Author: Shannon Messenger
Series: 7 books, so far
Length: The first book has almost 500 pages. The seventh book has almost 850 pages. Each book gets a little longer.
Main Character: Sophie
Fantasy: Yes, definitely. The characters’ powers are within and they develop when characters are about 11 to 13. The book is full of new ideas, not typical fairy tale magic. There is an alicorn that Sophie finds and takes care of.
Violence: There are no modern-day guns. More like swords and daggers. They have something like their own kind of gun, but it’s very different. It only stuns or makes others unconscious. It can injure but it doesn’t kill. Characters get hurt but most of them always recover. A few die. This book is not as violent as Percy Jackson.
Bedtime reading: Yes. I read this book before bed. It didn’t creep me out.
